From 41 to 94 subscribers in one month. Here's what I posted, what worked, my “strategy” if you want to call it that, and what the data actually means.

Open rates aren't a great metric. Sometimes, if I'm sitting in the lounge with my tablet, I might go check through my emails and read stuff. Generally, though, I'm procrastinating writing my novel, sitting in my study in front of my computer and reading through Substack, and that's often where I read the posts, such as this one. Not from my emails. I also find it easier to comment on the computer, or share.
You obviously write stuff that people want to read. You don't inundate people with noise, and that's nice.
This is very encouraging! (And a nice tip). Thank you TN, this genuinely means a lot. I like to put effort into my pieces with research and checking for nice readability levels. I want to be respectful of my readers' time and I want to share things that I find valuable and maybe you'll like too.
Gotta be honest. I'm not on Substack to gain subscribers. Just needed a place to write about random stuff (though, for some reason, I end up writing about writing a lot) and touch base with a few writers I follow. It's great discovering new writers, too!
I feel like Substack has also been a great platform for me to connect with other talented writers and learn a ton. The community here is very supportive.
